I have 3 parakeets. We bought one hoping he would talk and he never did so we got him a mirror. He never even made a sound until he got the mirror. THen he sang and whistled and loved the mirror. Now he has 2 more friends and I LOVE THEM... Albert, Polly, and Sally. I just wish they would talk... but after listening to Victor maybe they are and I just dont understand. I need to pay more attention.

Victor is one amazing parakeet. I've never seen or heard any bird that can talk like that:) I used to have a parakeet that looked just like him. One night he got very sick and later on died. I was devistated and cried for hours...I'm very sorry about Victor. It must have been hard for you. Keep up the good work with this site:)

Wow, I was just surfing the web and stumbled upon this excellent and intruiging site. Lucky me! I am very impressed with your research of Victor and from what I have read, it all seems very substantial and very well presented. I have found everything on this page extremely interesting and I will recommend this site to several of my friends who are also fond of animals and animal research. Keep up the excellent work. Send my best wishes to Victor, and have a joyous holiday season!

It seems as though Victor was a person who happened to look like a bird. I had a bee bee parrot like that - his name was David. He didn't speak English per se, but I always knew what he was saying and we understood each other perfectly. I would say to people, "Don't be fooled - he looks like a bird but he's really not. He's a person in a bird suit." That's what I think Victor was too. Thank you for sharing him with us. You are so lucky to have recordings and video of him. I don't have any of my David, whom I had for 17 years and lost 17 years ago. Best wishes to you, Sharon Sweet

I have just discovered this amazing website. I wait each day to get home and get back to the chronicles. I am stunned, excited, disbelieving and believing. In my heart, I know animals communicate more than we are aware...but to see it demonstrated is incredible. Is this real, is it a hoax. I am enjoying every single moment of this adventure. Victor was a blessing to all and my heart aches for his guardian. What a wonderful experience he and Victor had and what a loving and intellectually stimulating relationship Ryan had with Victor-this web site is incredible. The skills and time needed for such a production are much admired as is the evident love sprinkled amongst it all. I cannot wait to learn all they have to share!

Wow, that was one smart little budgie. I have about 40 budgies myself, while they don't talk to me about god, they do let let me know when they want something in there own way. My rainbow lorie doesn't say much (yet anyway) but what he does say is usaly assosiated with something (esp. "naughty boy," he loves telling people off!) I think birds are mostly alot smarter than most people give them credit for.

I have enjoyed reading about your talking budgie parakeet. Very interesting. I have always wanted a bird that talked, but, I don't dare have any as pets. With two cats - one who is quite a predator, there would be all sorts of mayhem around here!! I have always loved parrots and cockatiels. I can just see Ali going after a parrot - and lose an eye!! I also understand that parrots live a long time. With my age at 56, I doubly don't think that its a good idea to adopt one. I would always worry about what would happen to it, if I died. Thank you for sharing your story. The above website code is to my sitemap......if you want to go there, you can just pick out what you would like to see there!! Again, thanks for sharing!! Kaye.

I had a bird named bobby years ago who sounded just like Victor. I counted somewhere around 350 words, but probebly much more. I realized to some extent that he was making his own sentences and understood english language, but did not study it closely enough. Bob is deceased now. When I heard the talking budgie buttons it sounded so much like Bobby that I could not believe it! I'm with you all the way! Budgies know what's up! Thanks for saying so. -Mia

Sorry --I do not have a web site. I am a bird lover. I breed over 250 birds like your bird and it was the most wonderful to study their behavior . I am interested in the communications between humans and birds that seem to want to talk to us.
