Very interesting bird, the Victor. I also have a bird named Sunny. I caught him
in the tree outside my apartment and am trying to train him. I could use some tips
on his behavior and what it means.

Dear Ryan, I am relatively new to computers. I started taking some basic
classes at a local J.C. in town about 9 months ago. Only since then have I had
ANY experience with computers at all. But I have been exploring the internet, etc.
and I only just discovered "Victor's Memorial Sight" about 2 weeks ago. I just
now finished all of the "Victor and Betty Story". And now I am very sad to
learn how Victor died, etc. I want to share with you many things. First,
I know how incredibly & deeply painful his death was/is for you. I am so
sorry that this has happened! God! Why don't places that sell animals give
new pet owners enough information to insure that the pet will be cared for
in all ways? It is so irresponsible of them! You did everything you knew how
to do for Victor! But he needed more. This is deeply disturbing to me.
My heart really hurts for you about this whole tragedy. After the fact,
I can only say to you, "May the Supreme Being heal you & tranform your
heartbreak to a beautiful miracle for you." I am a veterinary technician
who has had several years of intense spiritual training & experience.
I hesitate to say what I call myself because many people have many varying
views about spirituality in general. Therefore, many folks make "assumptions"
about the meaning of the words & some think it is not of the light.
But I am actually a "psychic minister". I have all the legal rights & protection
that a regular church minister or priest has. I can marry, bury, babtize,
hear confessions, etc. We all know the Supreme Being in some fashion.
The different religions of the world (all that are even vaguely possitive in nature)
are focusing on the same Divine Light. Perhaps different aspects of that light,
but the same being none the less. Most people refer to it as "God". I prefer
using the term Supreme Being because I know the S.B. to be more than male.
He/She/It(?) is everything -both Mother & Father of all creation.
So sometimes I communicate more particularly with the Goddess aspect & other
times more with the God aspect. I think you get my picture enough here.
In my life, I have learned so much about spirit. This life counts but it is
merely a shadow of what the true full reality is. I have a particular "gift"
for communicating with animals on an empathic level. I get emotional information
from & about them. I "feel" what they are experiencing, meaning, wanting, etc.
I am able to perceive these things on an energy (spiritual) level.
I went to vet. tech. school to learn about the physical reality of animals
since our body's have a huge affect on ourselves as a whole. I wanted to
add to my array of abilities with animals & plants, etc. So I know a great
deal of the needed information about animals in general, but more specifically
birds. (I just have a particular close connection to the birds of this world.
They are my "favorite") I would very much like to offer as much basic information
to you on bird care, what's natural for them, what is not, how too safe gaurd
them from mishaps in the home, what the signs are of something being wrong &
what to do in such a case, etc. But I want to be certain that you welcome
this input from me first. I don't want to offer "unsolicited"(unwelcome)
advise & seem to insult your ability to be a good bird friend. So please
let me know if you would like that. My email addy is unicornocopia2000@
yahoo.com. As soon as I heard the very first sound clip of Victor
I knew he was trying to tell you that he was at risk of some kind of
illness or the like. And I suspected that he knew there was something
wrong with him or he was afraid that he woas going to become sick.
Partly from his words, partly from my intuition. I know that animals
have different levels of physical intelligence & awareness as a spirit
in a body. I also know that regardless

I still can't think about Victor without tears. I am still going through the
anger phase of grieving-- how could he have died so soon! It's not fair.
I will always miss him and of course I will follow Betty's progress but
it's not the same. I do know animals can communicate. As a farmer I have seen it often.

Anthony Reynolds Tuesday, 3/13/01, 12:31 PM
Hello, I am Anthony Reynolds. I am the son of Ryan Reynolds, the researcher of Victor,
and the creator of this website. Some of you may think that the connection between
him and Victor were strong, but I cared for Victor just as much as my dad did.
That day that Victor was sick was unbearable. We all sat down beside his poor side
thinking of the pain he went through. My dad told me to go to sleep early that night,
and he watched Victor all through it. I couldn't get to sleep so I snuck into the room
where my dad and Victor were; the poor guy just looked straight at me with a sad look,
and I knew that there was something wrong, but I didn't do anything because I was
too afraid, too afraid to frighten the poor guy, telling my dad that there was
surely no possibility that he would make it through. We all had our share of tears.
I can still remember when he used to rub his head gently agaist my chin, how he
used to talk right into my ear when I did my homework, how he used to love speaking
right into the microphone. Too bad it all had to come to a tradgic stop.
Victor pal, I'll miss you...

Ryan, I just wanted to pass along my thoughts and prayers to you at this very
difficult time. The first time you posted anything about Victor to this list,
I sat with my daughter for several hours listening to Victor and reading
about his story. It is true that there is really nothing that anyone can do to
fill the void that has been left by Victor's passing. I would hope that you will
find comfort in the fact that your life with Victor, and the countless hours you
spent working with him have had such a positive impact on so many bird lovers,
not to mention the mark that his memory leaves on the world of budgie.
About a week ago, Heather accidentally left a huge stem of spray millet in the
bottom of Merlin's cage when she went to bed. The next morning she came and told
me that he was acting a bit crabby, sitting on the bottom of his cage and squawking
and nipping at her every time she got her hand near him. I came into her room to
see what the problem was and I couldn't believe my eyes. Overnight, Merlin had
feasted on that spray millet, and he was looking plumper than a Thanksgiving turkey. I
reached into the cage to try and get him on my finger and he again started squawking
and nipping at me. Not wanting to pull away from him and re-enforce the behavior,
I called my husband Jeff in to see if he could get him on his finger. I was sure
he was stuck at the bottom of the cage, and at that point the only way he was
gonna make it up to his perch, short of rolling, was to be helped up.
He squawked and squawked, but finally got onto Jeff's finger and up to his perch.
Once he was up there he calmed down immediately. The next 10 minutes or so
I sat there explaining to him that the reason he was feeling so awful was because
he had eaten all of the spray millet and his tummy must be upset. He just sat
there tilting his head back and forth like he was perhaps a bit confused over
how I would know all of this. Finally, I told him the story of Victor, and how
he once talked about having a tummy ache, and since Victor had talked about it,
it most certainly must be something that really happens to budgies.
Thank you Ryan, for sharing your life with Victor, with all of us. Oh the tales
he will have to tell you when you are one day reunited. How truly blessed you
were to have such a special relationship with him. May his memory bring you
more joy than sorrow.......surely that is the way he would want it to be.
Wishing you comfort, Caren aka Merlin's Grandma

My wife Bev and I shared a too short time with a brilliant green budgie named Button.
Until I met him, I never believed Bev's claim that budgies could talk. He was a very
affectionate bird and talked extemelly well, amazing our friends and aquaintances by
learning 2-3 new phrases each week. We lost him in a sad accident which crushed us both.
We share your sorrow at losing Victor. It always seemed to us that Button lived
life very fast and brightly, perhaps because, like Victor, he would only be with us
a short while. We are confident that our Lord has a special place in heaven for birds,
and look forward to seeing Button and Victor again someday

I think the memorial page is a really good idea...you are more than welcome to
put my email on that page. When I told my son who is 11 about Victor passing he
looked at me and said, Oh no, not Victor! I said yes sad but true. Then he said...
do you think they will have a funeral? To many Victor was soooo much more then just
a bird...he will be sadly missed. But I am so glad for all the work you did with him,
you were an inspiration to us, and as well that he is recorded....his memory lives
on in that way... I have copied it to make it easier to you ... I am so sorry to hear
