I can see how some people have a hard time believeing that Victor is really communicating when he talks. Sometimes he still amazes me with what he says. I'll often think "Oh, he couldn't of said what I just thought I heard him say." I guess he'll have to say something like:
"Oh come on Ryan, Don't you believe I can talk yet. What more do I have to say?"
Could it be possisble that it is coincidence when he says all these things at the right time? To answer that quickly; most definately not. The odds of this happening in relation to what is going on around him would be astronomical. Maybe if you would have asked me that question a year prior to this, I would have thought about it, but now, I am sure beyond a doubt that he is communicating on a highly intelligent level. He started out saying one or two things a day that were in the proper context, now its 10 or 20 times a day and that is only when I'm listening.
He also proves to have an incredible, if not photographic memory. It seems to allow him to play back a similar situations in his mind and then draw on that situation for the correct response. This is a very complex way of communicating, because he's not just remembering the words, but situations too. All this is done at lighting speed in a little brain not much bigger than a pea.
I put some water in a dish one day so he could take a bath. When he saw it he said "It's a dish." The same day I was sweeping his mess in front of the cage and he said "You are sweeping." I tried to take a picture of him today and he wouldn't let me. He said "Victor no like photo". I can't even remember ever calling it a photo before as I usually call it a picture. So where did he get the word photo from? I could go on and on, but I think your getting the point. Besides you've got all those audio files to listen to, so you better get to it. I find that even when I've listened to them many times before, I still pick up something I've missed. In closing, all I can say is the next time you think your budgie said something that made sense, he probably did, so let him know you heard him.
