Parrotresearch.com- A Journey Into the Mind of A Talking Parrot
Too Intelligent For the Skeptics
Aug 6,2003
"Being skeptical of things that defy scientific explanation are natural and healthy for most humans. It makes us feel good that we know we are not fools by believing in everything people say without seeing the proof. However, once the proof is presented in a way that can no longer be refuted, we should not hold on to this skepticism, because if we do, then we truly become the fool that we have tried so hard not to be."

When you first come to this site, it is probably normal to have a certain amount of skepticism about it. Hopefully by the time you listen to some of the budgie recordings you will not have any.
A majority of the people that come here embrace it for what it really is. A truthful study of a talking parrot that could speak in conversational language. However, there are some that think it is not a real budgie talking and it is a hoax. Really, anyone who thinks that is a hoax, for lack of a better term, is dense.
It is also regrettable that most people are cultured to disbelieve it is possible for a budgie to talk in context and do not really give it a fair chance. I feel bad for those who are just starting a university education in related fields. Many are intelligent enough to realize the truth. For those that do, it does not make a very good starting point for them when they know that their professors and teachers are not correct when they say that parrots cannot learn to speak in context or understand humanistic concepts. It also becomes very challenging for them to change the minds of the old school type mantelity who have not changed their veiws on animal intelligence for many years. Some believe they are aware of the most recent advances in animal behavior and won't budge and inch when it come to new research such as this. Some of these are my biggest skeptics.
Before I go any further, I would like to thank the Budgie Research Group for all their support and believing in me for the last few years. I have went through some very difficult times with the loss of Victor. Through that time some of you have supported me and gave me encouragement. You have also studied my theories and learned much through Victor's recordings. I would also like to congratulate others that have worked very hard at bonding with your budgies and teaching them to converse in our language as well. You are amongst the first in the world to break the communication gap that has existed between man and animal since the beginning of time. At one point, just in this group alone, we had about 30 other budgies/parakeets that were talking in conversational language, similar to Victor.
